Some more details about Josh
Since Josh was a kid, he always loved to tell stories.
In elementary and middle school, josh filled notebooks with poems, short stories, and a large number of doodles! The cartoons were heavily inspired by newspaper comics, such as Garfield, Baby Blues, Foxtrot, and most importantly, Calvin and Hobbes. The stories he would tell as a child would influence his work as a teenager and as an adult. While the artistic mediums and influences may have changed over the years, the sense of humor and love of storytelling has always remained.
In high school, Josh was tasked with writing a comprehensive research essay on a “Great American Artist.” He selected Steven Spielberg because he would get to “watch a bunch of movies.” Not only did he receive an A on the paper, but it helped spark a lifelong journey into the world of cinema. Since then, Josh has been obsessed with films and stories from all around the world from every point in history.
Josh began his tenure at Columbia College Chicago in 2011 and graduated in 2015. During this time, he wrote film criticism at the school’s newspaper, the Columbia Chronicle. Although he studied several aspects of filmmaking in college, he gravitated towards screenwriting. During this time, Josh wrote countless short screenplays and four feature length screenplays. He co-wrote the short script Mr. Big Shot, which was selected for the Directing III program in 2015, a prestigious class where only eight students are given the resources to shoot a short film on a larger budget.
Since finishing college, Josh has worked at Yellow Box Studios Ltd. in a number of roles. In addition to writing, directing, editing, and producing video work, Josh has helped create countless websites using developer tools such as WordPress and theme.co’s Cornerstone builder.
In 2021, Josh became a co-founder of Kino Crew Productions, LLC., which he started with two of his college filmmaking friends. After several years making short films together, the trio decided to make it official and start an LLC. Since then, they have been utilizing local talent and shoestring budgets to bring their fun and bizarre ideas to life.
